The Stray Sheep #7 – Questions over questions

So, the other day I got tagged in Naithin‘s questionaire-tag-thingy and I’m really excited to answer those. I used to follow a blog called petesback and he got tagged in one of those, too, which I found really cool! Especially since multiple bloggers are engaging with each other. It truly shows how lovely and lively the blogging community can be, which makes me quite happy, tbh.

So the idea behind this one is to peel back the curtain a little and let readers perhaps find out a little more about the person behind the keyboard.
It follows a theme of 7’s — answer 7 questions, create 7 of your own, tag 7 people to answer your questions and carry it on. Most important to me is that this isn’t mandatory. If you don’t feel comfortable tagging people — don’t. Make it an open invite, or do less. There is no threat upon your luck or the love life should you choose to ignore it.

So, let’s get busy, I guess! :)

1. What hobbies or interests do you have that you might not regularly include on your blog?

I’m really into Drama (which I’ve already mentioned in my introduction post) and have been playing drama for about ten years now in school and at our uni-group here. I’ve performed in four plays, though my favourite play out of those was the first one – a “modern” version of Goethe’s “Faust”, where I played the subconciousness of Margie that torments her in the church-scene, wearing a robe and all that. Although we had two people playing that role, I took part in all 13 performances, but I don’t exactly remember why the other guy didn’t do it..

Anyways, I also enjoy baking quite a lot and I’m just getting started with cooking and that kind of stuff. When I bake or cook for other people it usually tastes alright, so I need to improve on that, I guess, but most importantly I want to get better at cooking for myself, since I always tend to make something that doesn’t look too tasty, since it’s only for me. It’s a weird habit of mine, I guess.

I also used to go to science fairs and have my own little projects back in my schooldays and participated in five years with two second places, one honorable mention, one first place and a third place. I love researching stuff, getting the facts straight, finding out more about things and then putting it all together into one document – but I guess I’m doing just with my reviews right now.

I’m also in our uni’s literature club and working at their editorial staff where we’re currently working on the next issues. Also I’m a little bit into uni-politics and I’m in the debating-club here, but I haven’t been there all that much lately since I didn’t really have that much time..

And then there’s also other hobbies like watching shows and movies, reading, I used to be into sewing, uhm…and there’s all kinds of other stuff that interests me, but I don’t have the time right now to ramble about those.

2. Are you learning any skills at the moment? If not, what would you like to learn?

As I mentioned, I’m getting into cooking and baking. I already enjoy those quite a lot but I need to improve by quite a lot. For my last birthday, someone gave me a piping bag set as a present, so I’d love to get into macarons and the like, soon, once I’ve got more time for that.

As for other skills, I’d like to improve my writing skills. Every now and then, I tend to make mistakes which I don’t always notice or create complex and way too long sentences that readers may get bored by, so I’d like to improve on those!

3. If you were invited on a one-way trip to Mars to establish a new colony, would you go?

To be honest, if I would have been asked to a few years back, I would have gone. But now with my dream of becoming a teacher and after having my current girlfriend and all kinds of new friends, I don’t think that I would have. It’s still a dream of mine to go to space someday but I don’t think that it’s gonna be fullfilled at all, unless space tourism eventually becomes an affordable thing!

4. What is the one thing that you most want readers to come away from your blog with? A feeling, thought, or understanding.

Oh, that’s a good question! To be honest, I’d like readers to enjoy my posts. A feeling that they should take away would be “Ah, that’s a typical Indiecator-post!” I think that’d be great.

Also I would love it if my gaming-posts would end up helping people decide if they want to play a game or not. Some games are quite underrated, so it’d be great if I could help those games gain popularity but I think right now I’d be happy enough if people would just enjoy my posts, since that second part certainly comes eventually once I’ve got a bigger audience, I guess.

5. What excites you most about having a blog?

Screaming out my opinions without being asked to do so! I’ve mentioned it in my introduction-post but it’s a great feeling to have a voice on the internet!

DR. PEPPER IS THE BEST SOFTDRINK! FIGHT ME!

me

Well, that’s what I said earlier when I started but now (only a month later) what excites me most is that I’m able to engage with other bloggers and that I’m able to get a look behind the scenes.

I also get excited whenever there’s a comment under my posts!

6. If you could make one thing from a book, TV show or movie real, and in your possession, what would it be?

Oh, that’s a tough one! I guess, I’d enjoy having that flaming sword from Lucifer. That’s a great show btw. But as for the sword, I wouldn’t use it as a weapon or something, it’d just be quite the handy thing to have!

Tom Ellis is such a great actor!

“Got a light?” – “Yeah, just let me pull my flaming sword out.” – “Thanks, man!” – “No problem.”
Also it’d be a fun little thing to have when doing a BBQ or when you’re in a dark place or something.

That’d be quite rad.

7. They say everyone has at least one book in them — if you were to write a book, what would it be about?

Oh, I don’t know man… let me think of something oddly specific.

How about a Rom-Com-novel about two co-workers at an office that dislike each other at the beginning but begin to develop feelings towards each other over the course of time. The twist is that one of them is actually a talking rabbit and while the other one (I just won’t bother with genders) sees the rabbit as…well… a rabbit (in an metaphorical sense, I guess), while everyone else thinks that the second person is a huge douchebag and a racist for discriminating the rabbit for being a rabbit, while the second person is just overwhelmed with this development, especially when that person’s been working in the office for over ten years and the rabbit, who’s only been there for a few months, has been promoted to the person’s superior.

The novel would make a play at at-work-relationships, the troubles of modern-age-/first-world-diseases like burnout and heart-attacks coming from stress, racism (or whatever you’d call it when a person is discriminating a rabbit for being a rabbit) and tolerance. It surely would become a best-seller! If only I was good at writing novels, lol.

I think that’s oddly specific enough. I feel like I should’ve gendered those two but in our day and age, I just didn’t feel like it.

Okay, these were my seven answers.
As for my tags, I’d like to tag…uhm..let’s see..

NameBlog
IsaacTechACute
Lewisa most agreeable pastime
Mr. Pcontains moderate peril
Belghasttales from the aggronaut
WelRedMagethe wel red mage
SDWeaselunidentified signal source
Shadowz Shadow MMORPG

Of course everyone else who wants to participate, can go ahead and do so! No problem with that, but these seven are my tags :)

As for my questions, I’m going with these here:

  1. You have to chose an awesome superpower but it has a huge drawback! What’s the best superpower that you can think of with the worst drawback? (e.g. Flying! But you get explosive diarrhea while using it!)
  2. What’s your favourite drink/cocktail?
  3. If money didn’t matter, where would you chose to live?
  4. Would you rather see everything in different shades of the same colour or rather be colour-blind?
  5. What’s the last book you’ve read/show or movie you’ve watched and what’s the best thing you liked about that one?
  6. If you could only play one game for the rest of your life, what would that game be?
  7. Since you’re on this post, you’ve surely read through my rom-com-novel about the rabbit and the other person. Which one of those two would you rather be?

Thanks for the tag, Naithin! This one was quite a lot of fun and it’d be great to get tagged again! :)

Anyways, cheers!

This post is part of a contest/challenge called Blaugust! The goal is to post as much as possible and participants are awarded different prizes depending on the goal they achieved. My aim is to post on all 31 days of August and if you’d like to know more about this “event”, you should check this post out.

  1. Nicely answered. :D

Although to be clear, the Real Neat Blog Award thinger isn’t something I came up with. I chased it back a few links but actually couldn’t see who did. Often these sorts of things do retain a link to the original ideator, but I kind of like a bit that this one didn’t. Adds a bit of air of mystery too it. And then every person coming up with their own questions makes this about the best game of Whispers ever. :D

Glad you enjoyed it! There might be another soon. I’ve just been tagged in a different one. I don’t want to put it out immediately on the back of this one, but soooooon.

    1. Well, it’d be cool to have one that gets more and more questions but you’ll have to tag less people! And sure, I know that you aren’t the one who created it, but I felt like quoting you on the rules and stuff instead of thinking something up myself.

I hope you were pleased by my answers :) The novel-part really was what got me excited here with an oddly specific rom-com, haha.

  2. I thank you for the tag, but sadly I won’t be doing that. Just nothing that interests me in the questions, but again thanks for the tag, and next time just use “Shadowz Abstract Gaming”, the MMORPG was when that blog started as various MMOs that could be play for free, then it became an everything blog lol.
