I sort of stopped playing Valheim when friends stopped playing it… and now that friends started playing it again, I got back into the groove and I have no idea what I’m doing.
Honestly, Valheim’s lovely though. It can be grindy but at the same time, there are lots of things to do… and it just sort of feels like OSRS but in modern and I like that a lot. Grinding up the running skill and jumping for no reason whatsoever… is fun.
And well, the building is great.
Currently, a streamer I know planned this sort of community server full of lore and stuff out… there are two camps that compete against each other. Odin’s Redcapes and Freyja’s Greenfeathers. Each prefers different items and weapons, has a different diet, and focuses on different aspects. Whereas the Redcapes are more dwarven-inspired, I decided to join the Greenfeathers since the other people in that camp are naming themselves after valkyries and they build around nature and stuff… really cool!
So, my goal for this is… to build something pretty and just play with friends from time to time.
I enjoy the community aspect and haven’t really gotten into RP in quite a while.
Thus, I’ve assumed the name of “Mist”, which is one of the valkyries that barely anyone knows because she’s barely mentioned throughout the Edda poems… primarily, though, Mist may come from the Old Norse word “Mistr” which translates to “cloud” or “mist”.
Thus, I wanted to grind my running and jumping skills to be a speedy fighter, dashing in with her knife, and then running away. Doing a wee bit of chip damage wherever I can whilst others rain support fire on our enemies. I’d imagine that that could be a lot of fun if it does end up working out.
In terms of building, I wanna create a wooden tower of sorts that wraps itself around a big tree… among water…
I’m not sure if that’s doable in Valheim but I can terraform a bunch and plant some oak, I reckon, and from there, I’ll just see how it goes.
In this screenshot above, you can see that we already have a dock and some cool buildings… and right there near the water is my little love shack. I haven’t had much time yet to really get to building, so I’ve been mostly foraging and trying to get some decent gear. But hey, it’s a starter house that I’ll just tear down later on and I’d imagine that there are worse shacks out there, probably.
Anyhow, it’s been quite a lot of fun to get back into the game and I’m looking forward to whatever I can build in Valheim.
