So, I didn’t end up writing a post on May’s Choice nor did I get to write a post for June… and that lowkey sucks because I actually did grab May’s Humble Choice selection while I’m pausing this month.
Either way, here are some unorganized thoughts on both months, just to get the post out of my head. I just gotta get back into the habit of writing posts, essentially, but with time constraints and exams coming up, it’s getting harder and harder to do so. But I got some time now!

May
May was a good month!
I did write a review on Mediterranea Inferno already which you can read over here, so that’s a recommendation right there but May’s choice also included Yakuza: Like a Dragon which is an interesting take on the Yakuza series. Aside from that, the month featured the adorable little game Loddlenaut which looked promising, the bizarre horror adventure of Amanda the Adventurer (a title I was only made aware of a few months ago, actually), and the incredibly great-looking Hi-Fi Rush!
I already owned King of the Castle. As far as I know, it’s a strategy game about kingdoms and it sort of plays like a party game. You can even activate Twitch integration if you are a streamer to have your audience take up arms as different clans in hopes of becoming king!
Steelrising was a title I was excited about because of a video Iron Pineapple did on it (and other Souls-y games) a while back. Definitely recommending that channel btw! Anyhow, Steelrising is essentially a game about french steampunk robots fighting other french steampunk robots…
There are a ton of different weapons that play very differently, elements to utilize and attack combos that make the game fairly interesting. You upgrade abilities as you progress though the title and define your own playstyle, sort of. It has its weaknesses, of course, as IP pointed out up there but it seemed like a fairly fun and interesting title to get into.
Originally, I thought Hi-Fi Rush was actually just Jet Set Radio but in more modern… but no, it is a completely different game that kinda pays homage to JSR but also not really. It’s got rhythm-based combat, a lot of action, a lot of robots, and overall, it just seemed like a ton of fun based on streams I’ve seen.
And well aside from that, Bravery and Greed is an action RPG of sorts, Amanda the Adventurer is a short horror game based on a fictional children’s TV show that’s gone sentient, and Loddlenaut is a cute little game about taking care of axolotl. Cool.
I grabbed that month’s Choice and am looking forward to playing Loddlenaut, Hi-Fi Rush and Steelrising eventually. Once I get through the other Yakuza games, I wanna play Yakuza: Like a Dragon as well… and King of the Castle & Amanda the Adventurer are games I’d like to try on stream eventually.
Anyhow… you can still grab your games there currently.

June
This month… yeah, I passed on it.
I already own Risk of Rain 2 and I have written multiple posts on it, too, to prove how much I love that game.
But aside from that, nothing really hooked me out of the selection of games. A Guidebook of Babel looks incredibly adorable, so I’m adding that to my wishlist.
Empyrion Galactic Survival is one of those survival crafting type of games but it didn’t really stand out to me compared to other similar games that released in the recent years, and I have still No Man’s Sky in the backlog amongst other similar games.
Stray Gods is probably amazing if you like musicals. I like musicals but I couldn’t really relate to the storyline and wasn’t too sure whether it’d be something I’d enjoy playing. I love the cast of voice actors that they got for the game, though! Just not my cup of tea necessarily!
Warhammer 40k Battlesector is probably what carries this month’s Choice in terms of value but I have too many other unplayed Warhammer games and unread Warhammer books on my plan-to-read list, so I’ll play this eventually after a good sale once I’ve grown more fond of the lore.
Aside from that, this month’s Choice also features “Miasma Chronicles” which has real-time exploration (ooh) in combination with tactical, turn-based combat (oooh!) in it with RPG elements (no way!) but it seems like not something I’d play anytime soon, honestly. Like, genuinely, probably an amazing game from the looks of it and some glances here and there but I don’t know anything about the game itself since I didn’t feel the need to look closer than what I’ve seen. I feel like there are plenty of other games with similar selling points.
And well, I frankly didn’t care much about Knights of Honor II: Sovereign since my backlog is too full of grand strategy games, as is, and they take so much time to learn and get into… adding another game to the backlog seems less great. Oh, and I don’t care about the Lego game.
Overall, probably a good month for some people but I personally just didn’t feel like anything hooked me enough to get me to care more about any of these games. Babel seems cool, though, and I love RoR2 to bits. If you wanna play RoR2 sometime, hit me up! Grabbing it for less than a tenner is super worth it!
