I used to use “Alas” wrong, all the time

So, this one’s more of a PSA than a post but if you stumble across older posts of mine, you might come across the odd “alas” or two or three or fifteen… I didn’t understand that “Alas” means something very specific in that you follow it up with something bad.

“I went to Gamescom this year. Alas, I didn’t get to play the demo for Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant.”

Also, yes, that’s the full title of that game, look it up.

I don’t know why exactly I thought it just meant “thus” but in “even fancier” but Naithin from timetoloot eventually pointed it out to me and ever since I’ve been changing things up by using it correctly.

Anyhow, if you stumble across the word “Alas”, I really didn’t know that it means something different.

English is my third language. :) I can pull out that card here, right?
