This month’s choice is quite promising, although I’m certainly not interested in everything. It features 12 “choices” again – or in my case: “All or None”. Among the choices available, there are a bunch of promising titles that I already was aware of as well as some that look incredible… but I don’t think this month is for everyone. But this month the table returns with my ranking and everything because it felt weird not to have that around, didn’t it? Ranking these games has been quite difficult for me, though, but I think I did an alright job of ranking these.

I talked about it before but I’m really excited to play Partisans 1941. It’s not only published by Daedalic but it also is set in the Second World War where it shines the light on the partisans, a group that doesn’t really get too much of a spotlight in games generally. The RTS and Stealth mechanics were interesting in the beta version that I played back then, so I’m looking forward to playing the full release soon! The polar opposite of Partisans 1941’s tactical and stealthy gameplay formula, however, is Voidigo. It’s a “Top-Down Shooter Action-Roguelike” type of game much in the vein of what Enter The Gungeon or Nuclear Throne did. The art style looks fun and colourful and the effects look powerful – which is important in any roguelike, in my opinion. I can’t wait to see how the “void corruption” themed bosses and enemies are gonna manifest in this little title.
The Survivalists also looks interesting. Lately, I’ve been wanting to play some sort of Survival game lately, and I feel as if this one might fill in the gap quite nicely. Looking forward to checking it out! Greak: Memories of Azur, on the other hand, looks truly mystical and enigmatic. Puzzle-Adventures always had a spot in my heart but I’m a bit worried that I may end up quitting once the platforming gets too hard. We’ll see!
Maneater is… interesting, I wanna say? I’m looking forward to the “evolve your shark” kinda thing in it and the utter destruction that I may be able to cause. When I used to play GTA, ages ago, I only wanted to wreak havoc. In “Destroy All Humans!”, it was the same thing. Nobody cares about the story. Just kill them all, right? So that’s why I put Maneater so high on the list. I initially hesitated to put this one so high up because of TripeWire’s CEO, John Gibson, who in September proclaimed his joy and support of anti-abortion laws issued in Texas. But he “stepped down” afterwards as his values and opinions are not in line with the company’s views, especially in terms of women’s rights… So, I think it’s fine?
Anyway, 8 Doors is a Metroidvania-Action-Adventure based on Korean folklore. The art style is interesting, although I’m a bit hesitant to put this higher up as I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy the platforming in that game all that much. Still, it intrigues me as to how the story is portrayed and written, especially as I’m a newbie when it comes to Korean mythology and folklore. Lacuna, on the other hand, is a Crime-Noir Adventure game that looks interesting, both in its style and topics. Can’t wait to try that out!
Endzone – A World Apart would have ranked higher if I didn’t own it already. I like the idea and it should be right up my alley, but it didn’t stand out in terms of its concept or anything. Mordhau looks like For Honor but not as Moba-like and more about the actual PvP. I’m sure it’s a fun game with fewer issues than For Honor but I couldn’t help but not feel excited about that at all. On the same note as Maneater, however, the devs aren’t without controversy either, considering that they were seriously thinking about adding a toggle feature that would remove all other ethnicities from the game… but they ultimately didn’t. Why can’t people just be decent?
Tohu is a Point & Click Adventure game that is adorable in its style and premise but I’m not the biggest Point & Click Adventure fan… and I gifted it to a friend for her birthday as she showed a lot of interest in it. Fling to the Finish is a physics-based co-op game and I frankly don’t think I’d enjoy it all that much. Beyond The Wire, on the other hand, looks interesting in its premise. It’s like Dino D-Day… but without the dinos… Anyway, I put this one in dead last because the game’s player base reportedly is really low so it might be hard to get a lobby together. That’s the issue with large-scale online-multiplayer games: Eventually, they may die out if the game isn’t kept fresh and interesting over time. Right now it might get a temporary boost in players due to this month’s choice but I doubt it will last for very long.
While you’re here, check out Naithin’s thoughts on this month’s choice! His post is rather festive!
Anyway, that’s it for this month’s Choice. What did you think about it? Did you grab it or did you pause? Are there any games you didn’t like at all or games that you’ve been excited about?
