Front Page Rework (in Progress)

The other day, I mentioned how I’ve got the intention of reworking the front page and the menus on here. The biggest issue is that it’s cluttered and that a lot of the website isn’t visible on mobile which is something I can fix by either:

  • Changing to a different (more mobile-friendly and simpler) theme or…
  • Changing the menus and layout on the front page

The front page is the face of the website, so I was thinking of maybe adding the “About” section to that, although it so far has only added more clutter, which is why I reverted the change. I also figured I’d add links/buttons to the different categories with explanations to that and instead of having the categories listed at the top, I’d change those out for different pages I wanna feature with blog posts, information, and other gimmicks.

My biggest issue with all of this is that I can’t quite seem to get it to work just right. Some of the widgets don’t work too well in columns. More importantly, though, I can’t seem to find the best place to add a blog roll. For now, I’ll have to get back to the drawing board and see what works best – and maybe I’ll have to ask around and figure out how some people I know that read my blog navigate my site. I love my current theme so I really don’t want to change away from it but I may have to do so eventually either way.

If you read my blog a lot, can you maybe give me your suggestions or feedback on things I could change or things that would look better if placed differently? Bonus points if you read my posts on mobile on the site itself and not a reader!
