Blaugust 2022 – TTRPG Oneshots!

Blaugust is only a few more days away and thus, I wanted to talk about the plans I alluded to in my other Blaugust Prep post.

As I mentioned previously already, I plan on hosting a few DnD Oneshots. The idea is to just get to know each other a little and to have a bit of a fun time together. I believe it may also be a nice introduction into the world of DM-ing for me as well as a fun time for anyone that hasn’t meddled with TTRPGs yet as well as veterans in the genre.

The Game/Ruleset I wanted to try out for this is “You Awaken In A Strange Place” by “Tummy Boy” which can be found over here on Itch.io! This one’s a fully improvised, one-shot TTRPG for four players that requires zero preparation and only a few hours of one’s time. This means that it’s an amazing rulebook for our purposes! Each game, after all, has to be finished in one session, meaning that we can get through it relatively easy as well without having to go through the struggle of finding a new time and date for our next session.

To determine when we’ll do this, I created a “pollunit” link that can be accessed over here. I believe you don’t need to have an account for it or anything. There, I essentially set up four columns with four different dates. So, we can essentially see how many people are interested in joining in for the different dates each week.

I figured Saturday would probably work for most people the best. Timezones are a bit rough, though, so, I just went with “8 PM CEST” and we can discuss the time as time goes on – over in the discord.

“You Awaken In A Strange Place” makes use of four players and if there are more participants interested in playing along or if more people wanna play, we can arrange to have multiple groups or I’ll sit out a date or so.

Obviously, you don’t have to use the link though. Instead, you can also just leave a comment on the blog or shoot me a message on Discord. I’m looking forward to playing some of this TTRPG with people and I hope that we get to have a good time throughout August!
