New Plans for Content Creation once my Internet works again.

I already wrote about the “Why did it take so long?” part of this situation, and wanted to give a little rundown/tldr over here as well in a shorter form before continuing with my plans for the future.

  1. TLDR of the internet situation and why I was offline for so long
  2. Blogging
  3. 4-Year-Stream-Anniversary + Return Stream
  4. Future Stream Plans
  5. Feedback’s always appreciated!

TLDR of the internet situation and why I was offline for so long

  • I entered a contract with the ISP devil. (Wording it like that because it sounds like it’s from CSM.)
  • BlackSIM is a shitty company that made me wait for two months to no avail, lied to me, tried to manipulate me into continuing on with them, and which essentially never got me online, despite the five different appointments.
  • I terminated the contract.
  • I got a new contract with 1&1. I’m very happy with the offer I got.
  • I’ll have 50 GB of data volume available to me temporarily starting tomorrow (most likely) and then a proper connection once they sort out the tech stuff.

For two months now, I’ve lived in a new apartment and I have been incredibly busy. University is quite demanding in terms of time investment with the preparation I have to do for classes and after classes… not to mention practicing stuff, memorizing things, and figuring out how the fuck one does those trees in Syntax again. It’s a whole thing.

Either way, I didn’t get to relax, play games or work on posts in those two months because I haven’t had a working internet connection at my place due to the ISP devil. Sucks but can’t be helped.

Blogging

So, going forward, I will try my best to post more frequently. I have quite a few blog posts that I’ve worked on offline that I wanted to publish in the next few weeks… but I’m unsure how much of that I’ll get done, to be honest. Exam season is coming… and it will be a harsh one.

That said, I’m excited to have a working connection again and to be able to work and study from home again. Truly. This was a nice Christmas surprise.

As for blog posts, I wanna try to be more consistent with my Humble Choice posts and actually get them out early on in the month rather than later.

Aside from that, I wanna publish more reviews but that’s something I say each year and uh… yeah. Nothing new there. I like writing them, so I shall write them. Maybe more than this year!

That said, I also want to publish some videos to YouTube and I’m not sure if I should write a blog post about videos once they go out, perhaps. I’d imagine that could be cool but I’m unsure if people that follow the blog would be interested in that.

On another note, I plan on writing a review for another site as a guest post… and I intend to also open up guest posts again, perhaps a bit stricter than before, so if you’re interested in that, feel free to reach out to magiwastaken on Discord. :)

4-Year-Stream-Anniversary + Return Stream

So,… Streaming. Yup. Looking forward to it.

Once my internet shenanigans are sorted out, I also plan on streaming again. I will have to dial down the quality a bit, probably to around 540p, again, since my internet connection is a lot slower than it was at the dorm I lived in… but since I mostly play pixel-art games, it’s not too much of a loss, I’d imagine.

I wasn’t able to do anything for my 4-Year-Stream-Anniversary (November 19th), sadly, but I did make plans for it already. And I still plan on committing to those plans once I’m back to streaming again… although I will combine them with something else I had planned.

So, the “The Grand Return of the Magi That Was Taken” stream that I originally planned was going to be a chatting stream of sorts where I essentially would just ramble on for hours to people, catching up, talking about how shitty commuting is, how shitty BlackSIM is, how great university has been, shows I’ve watched, and games I’ve played (on my phone). I’d be able to chat with all the people that I missed so dearly and I’d have a wonderful time while listening to video game soundtracks… as always.

And the Four-Year-Anniversary was going to be a “Back to the Roots” sort of deal… 12 Hours of me streaming games for my audience… and the games in question would be games I’ve played when I started out:

…but I’d put a twist on it in that I’d also travel along those four years and uh… watch clips… and talk milestones… and honestly, basic stuff… but we’d also play…

So, we’ve got the Risk of Rain franchise… and the DotE franchise… and they’re among my favourite games and I highly recommend checking them out.

Anyway, “we’re travelling through time” is what I thought, and aside from that I cannot read my notes because I have a physical notebook here with manually written notes and the rain made everything blurry and squiggly and stuff… There’s something about world domination here? It can’t be. Truly bizarre.

So, yeah, I wanted to combine those two fairly basic ideas into one with one big stream in the new year (most likely) with a plethora of games to play a few runs of each throughout a twelve-hour time window, and at times we may even play some other staples from my four years of streaming.

Future Stream Plans

I’ve already talked about this before but in the future, I plan on still streaming but I wanna dial it down a bit. So less often… but better streams. Less quantity and more quality. I wanna stick to a schedule and do some really cool stuff with little gimmicks and the like.

One of those gimmicks failed the accessibility check, so we are not doing that. :(

But that aside, I wanna record an intro of sorts detailing what we’re doing in that given stream… and I’d play that at the start or maybe I’d just read it out with lots of echo and dramatic music and that sort of stuff.

I wanna get better at my writing, after all, so writing something for that might be good… But also, it might be a good thing for the purpose of:

  • Bringing viewers up to speed with what we’ve achieved in a game so far
  • Letting viewers know about what they can expect in the stream later on
  • Letting viewers know about possible content or trigger warnings
  • Creating a red string of sorts for the stream

All in all, it’s about structure… but it also thematically sets the stage if I can get it right. I’m still trying to figure out sound effects and music and voice filters and the like. I wanna create some music for this myself, after all. Should be awesome!

Aside from that, though, I still wanna do a lot of chatting. I also wanna work on Art and other stuff on stream if possible since I enjoyed that a fair bit. Currently, I’m learning GMS Code, so once I’m done learning, I may even do dev streams of sorts where I work on my own little game project, which should be cool. :)

And on top of that, games… I love roguelikes (and indie games in general), so I still wanna play those. I also like other games, so I may have a main game of sorts from time to time that I’ll play through.

I was thinking of possibly doing a modded playthrough of Skyrim and then using that to pivot into the Gothic games before eventually playing other titles such as The Witcher 3, Shadow of the Colossus, etc. for the first time. So, looking forward to that but it really depends on how much time I can find for streaming.

That said, indie games will always stay the focus of the stream, and as thus I’m looking forward to a new year of indie showcases and other fun stream shenanigans.

Feedback’s always appreciated!

That’s all for the post.

Uh, if you have any thoughts, I’d love to hear them.

I think the main thing for me will be to be consistent in what I do and to do it consistently good if that makes sense.

So, improve on my writing and streaming… work on a schedule of sorts… and just – I guess – enjoy the ride while I’m at it… duh. As you’d expect from a hobby.

I’ve got a lot of stuff going on IRL with my studies, the health issues, and also my volunteer work but I’ll still try to make time for blog posts and streams if I can. Of course, life takes priority but these are sort of the plans for one big event stream, and then some smaller normal streams.

Once I know a date fo the big stream, I’ll also write another post here btw. So keep your eyes peeled!
