Gamescom 2023 – Tavern Talk is Coffee Talk but with an inbuilt DnD campaign!

At this year’s Gamescom, I ended up checking out a wide variety of different booths and there were many cool games from all over the world present at the Indie Village in Hall 10.2!

One super cool game like that was Tavern Talk by the WĆ¼rzburg-based studio Gentle Troll Entertainment, who previously created aĀ Brothers Grimm based 3D RogueliteĀ among other prototypes – as well as a hell-themed diner sim titled Welcome to Helly’s?!

That said, Tavern Talk, their new game is going to be a fully-fledged release with lots of content and polish and all of that, so I’m really excited for that.

This game is essentially something like Coffee Talk but with a DnD campaign baked into it.Ā

You run a tavern where adventurers assemble, ready to go on quests. Your job is to heal and buff these adventurers using drinks that you serve. At the same time, though, the story unfolds, you listen to the weary (and incredibly queer) guests’ stories, and from time to time, you hear rumours that let you create quests for your adventurers to embark on.

The demo showed, for instance, a bunch of rumour snippets about werewolves acting up, so you got to combine those into a quest to investigate them.

I honestly loved the idea, being a big Coffee Talk fan myself, and was really excited to see something inspired by that game… and to see a queer cast of wonderfully designed characters to send on adventures… Very nice!

There is a demo for Tavern Talk available on Steam, at the moment. Over there,Ā you can wishlist the gameĀ as well which helps out the devs a lot, given that the Steam algorithm is based on wishlists and follows much more than anything else!

On top of that, there will be a Kickstarter campaign available soon but to hear about that first, you’d probably wanna check outĀ their newsletter found over here on their website!
